UN Food Systems Summit 2021 Science Days

In September 2021, the UN Secretary-General convened a UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Harnessing science, technology and innovation is key to meeting the aspiration of sustainable, inclusive and resilient food systems. Thus, in support of a science- and evidence-based Summit, the UN established a Scientific Group for the UN Food Systems Summit to ensure the robustness, breadth and independence of the science that underpins the Summit and its outcomes. In preparation of the UNFSS, the Scientific Group organised the “Science Days for the UN Food Systems Summit 2021” 9, facilitated and hosted by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in July 2021.

“Alejandro did a fantastic job at capturing the key points of the discussion and illustrating them with a great mix of funny and thoughtful visual metaphors. The images were very useful during the event to re-cap the discussions on the second day and also for our social media campaign and website. Presenting key points in visuals grabs the attention of the audience much better than pure text and helps to convey a lot of content in a small space.”
